Meet Dr. Cassandra Peterson!

Dr. Cassandra Peterson, aka Dr. Cassy, was born and raised on Fidalgo Island in Washington state. Dr Cassy spent her time in high school training with a Kenyan drum master, M’Bili, who had nursed his own brain back to health after brain surgery by hand drumming. He called it ‘balancing right brain and left brain’, and this was the underlying theme of everything he taught.

After being involved in a terrible car accident in 2000 that resulted in traumatic brain injury to her friends, she had a new outlook on life. She thought a lot about how hard their brains were working just to communicate and how that related back to how hard it was to master a complicated drum beat. She decided to try to understand what was happening to the brain when speech and language does not enter or exit the brain in a normal way. She received her bachelors degree “with distinction” in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Washington before graduating summa cum laude from Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC.

Dr. Cassy has been serving Oahu since 2013 and is a licensed chiropractor in Hawaii and Alaska. She is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and received her Webster post-doctoral certification in 2009. She is a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner. She has advanced doctoral training in developmental and behavioral challenges through the Brain Blossom Program ™ and FOCUS Academy ™ . She will complete a 10-month pediatric certification program through Peak Potential Institute in December 2024.

She enjoys coaching tee ball with her husband Carlo, skiing in Alaska as a family, carving signs in the garage, creating extraordinary pizzas, and making papier machè statues of cartoon characters with her son Vendovi. Her passions are helping parents see their child’s behavior through a different lens and helping stressed out families live their fullest expression of life!
